Hypochlorous products can be manufactured in different ways, but the production method is rarely obvious from the label.
prept is made in the UK through patented electrolysis of purified water and medical-grade salt, avoiding acidification and bleach-conversion methods. This manufacturing process allows prept to maintain a simple two-ingredient formula without preservatives or stabilisers.
prept has a hypochlorous concentration of 150ppm, a pH range of 6.25–7.4 and independently validated purity of 99.6%.
Unpublished research carried out with the University of Edinburgh compared prept with ethanol and water on model skin across four biophysical tests. prept cleansed the skin while remaining as gentle as water, while ethanol caused visible barrier disruption.
