Church Pharmacy is proud to support Give A Gift, a Leeds-based charity whose mission is to improve the wellbeing and quality of life of people living in disadvantaged communities, and to maximise their potential through targeted support and provision.
Give a Gift directly works with refugee and asylum-seeking communities to act as a conduit between statutory authorities, refugee agencies and their clients, in addition to providing support services to individuals facing homelessness or living on or below the poverty line in Leeds.
This addresses the gaps in service provision throughout the challenging and stressful transition phase from asylum seeker to refugee status, which can last months or even years and during which people and families receive little, if any, financial support.
Give A Gift provides this critical short-term financial assistance to people in need, as well as a variety of other essential services such as a Cultural Food Hub, advocacy and befriending services, and personal and professional development opportunities for community members through volunteering and skill development workshops.
It was a pleasure to meet Rifhat Malik MBE, Director of Give A Gift, and her staff to learn more about the remarkable work they do and to see directly how essential this service is to many in the community.
Church Pharmacy donated £12,000 to Give A Gift, which will be used to aid the vulnerable individuals and families selected by the charity as well as to support its larger community programme.
